MIDNIGHT/DAY 4 - suspicion

[ ONCE AGAIN, ousting has ended. Much like the three other nights... well, it just isn't safe.

Team The Phantom's room seems to have been ransacked. And... well, things just look VERY WEIRD. Godot, or Mr. Diego Armando is wearing a spacesuit of sorts, with a utility knife stuck in his chest. This seems to have been his cause of death. Why is he wearing a spacesuit, though?

Simon Blackquill, on the other hand, is missing. If you search the mansion hard enough, you'll find him in the hallway right next to the dining hall. His corpse is on a table. His chest is bleeding, and that might have been where the killer dealt the fatal blow.

But! It isn't just any table. It looks like that pink thing on the left side, and yes. It seems like he's ready to be dismantled. But fear not! The machine his body is resting on is turned off. There's a bloody katana on the floor.

Shelly de Killer, on the other hand, has been taken out by the allies of the bad badger. His body can be found in his room, a gunshot on his shoulder. It must have been a huge caliber gun, because the hole made by the bullet is pretty big. He likely died from blood loss. Revolvers... amirite?

The mirrors in the library are more like portraits now, especially when there are such few remaining teams left.

Good morning, allies of the blue and badger. You are almost at endgame.

[Simon being dead is bad enough, but to have his body set up just like Metis's only twists the knife further, as if someone had designed this whole scene to be as painful for Aura as possible. Which is to say: MAXIMUM TRAUMA. And crying. Lots of crying.]

[ He stands by her, just as Mr. Blackquill requested of him, but he says nothing yet. He's reminded of his own time as a teenager, when he saw the autopsy report and photos of Gregory Edgeworth, and remembers how much he wanted someone to be there for him.

So, he gently places a hand on her shoulder, with his hat off and paying his respects to the prosecutor. He will end this nightmarish game soon, with only one bad badger left among them. ]

[Aura doesn't acknowledge Ray, but she doesn't pull away, either. There's a part of her that's ashamed to be showing such vulnerability in public—though her usual facade has been slipping ever since Simon first appeared in a clue, and Ray knows that better than most—but it's not enough to override the fact that she really does need the comfort right now.]

[ After giving her ample amount of time to grieve quietly, he finally decides to speak up, with a new resolve in his eyes. ]

Aura... listen to me...

Mr. Wright presented us with a vital piece of information yesterday. If it turns out to be true, and we expose the final enemy, we may have a chance to... turn things around. Please don't give up yet.

[Aura takes a moment to pull herself together, taking some deep breaths and wiping her face on her sleeve, waiting until she feels like her voice will be steady enough to respond.]

... You're right. As long as there's still a chance, we have to keep trying.

[This time, it truly was the people they voted for who received the punishment.

Phoenix spends some time checking the scenes, once again in a makeshift getup rather than his bloodstained suit, but he seems to be moving more automatically than anything else. He hasn't been getting much sleep, and when looking at Blackquill's body, he seems to be on the verge of losing it. That case was the last one he solved before he found himself here, after all... seeing Blackquill in that position is a sick parody of the justice they won for him.

There's no clues found at any of the crime scenes, it seems; if no one else makes an effort to move the body, then Phoenix will try to. And he checks the room of Mr. Doe as well, after which he finds himself followed by one Shoe the Cat. At least in this case, it seems that there is one obvious motive: 'Doe' was safe of being accused of being a bad badger.

Finally, he settles at the dining room table. He doesn't know any more questions he can ask of the proto badger or any new points that can be raised for or against the right choices to make. As Shoe strolls along the table and licks at his fingers, Phoenix sits there, mostly quietly, and partaking in whatever of the food or drink is left. He'll wait to see if a clue appears to help them; otherwise, he'll have to focus on analyzing everything that they know so far.

I believe in you two. If we made the right choice... then this is it. This will be the last day. I have to make sure of that, for everyone's sake.]
