I might have trouble believing it fully, but at the very least he must have been part of the group who carried it out. The prosecutor's word has been true thus far, so I can't quite dismiss it as hearsay.

It's possible, at the very least, that there may have been multiple parties involved in the crime, even though this trial is only calling for one. Blackquill himself did acknowledge the possibility of multiple parties, even... At the very least, the fact that two different people were almost framed would suggest that two parties were attempting to frame two different people.
